We are looking for guest house recommendations in Windermere. We will be taking the train in from Oban and then taking Mountain Goat tours. Would like to be able to walk to both as we will not have a car. Would like comfortable bed with shower and breakfast. Thank you.

Can you tell us your budget to help us give recommendations? When you are travelling, and how long you are there for?
But Mountain Goat pick up from Windermere Station and Bowness Pier. So you either want to be just beyond Bowness Pier or in Windermere Town Centre or the streets behind Windermere Library.
If you leave Oban at 0900 you should arrive at Windermere at 1600, well before the 599 Open Top bus ends for the night at 1830 to go down to Bowness Pier. After the 599 ends for the night the 555 to Keswick diverts to Bowness Pier every hour, and the last bus from Windermere to the Pier is a route 6 (to Barrow) at 2312.
The first Open Top bus up from the Pier in the morning is at 0842, with an early route 6 at 0600, so you will not be stuck if you choose to stay in Bowness.
