Trains/Metro to Hotel Go Copenhagen and city center

Hello,

On my last night of my trip, I am coming from Stockholm into Copenhagen via train. Right now, my plan is to book at Room at the Hotel Go Copenhagen, right outside the airport. I assume I will get off the train at the main station, and take a regional train to Tarnby? Or is it the metro? I would like to leave my bags, and then head back into the center, perhaps go to Tivoli. How late do the trains run?

Thanks in advance!
Bridget =)

Hi,

Tårnby is served by trains and buses, but not the metro. The trains run at least every 15 minutes during the day, less frequent at night, but at least once an hour all night long. There are also buses connecting Tårnby to the city centre. You can find timetables at journeyplanner.dk. You can get tickets at the machines at the stations or by using the DOT Tickets app.

And you can get off the SJ train at either Copenhagen Central Station or Copenhagen Airport. Then, change to a Regional train to Tårnby (from central station: direction Sweden / from the airport: direction Østerport). Again, journeyplanner.dk shows timetables.

While you certainly can take the train to Copenhagen and then backtrack to Tårnby, the easiest way would be to buy a train ticket from Stockholm to Tårnby and not to Copenhagen. It will probably involve a change to an Öresundståg in Malmö or Lund, but you will see the different options at www.sj.se and pick the one that suits your plans best.

However, Tårnby is really not the place I'd recommend staying in. There are other options closer to central Copenhagen.

Hi Badger,

Thank you for your reply! For the first part of our trip, we are staying in central Copenhagen, at a hotel very near City Hall. Then we head to Stockholm. When we come back, I just figured it would be best to get a hotel near the airport for the one night, since I have a flight home at noon, and since it's international, I thought the rule of thumb was to be there at least 3 hrs ahead of time... It's not the best location for visiting Copenhagen, but just for that last night I thought it would be OK. My daughter needs to meet her study abroad program at the airport too (unless they make other arrangements, but that won't come out until later...)

That certainly explains it. But unless there is a huge price difference I'd suggest staying at a hotel at the airport instead. Then you can take the train direct to the airport from Stockholm and don't need to change, and you have more options to get to central Copenhagen.

Although if your flight is at noon, you can still stay in central Copenhagen and make it to the airport in time without having to go up too early.

From Copenhagen Centraal train station, it’s only a 12- minute train ride to CPH Airport.
