Visiting Granada from Malaga

Any tips on visiting Alhambra from Malaga ? I would like to take a train rather than bus tour. Is this doable relative to distance to the Alhambra once we are in Granada?

Yes it is doable by train. There are better trains now, and they seem to keep improving the route. There are direct trains that take an hour and twenty minutes, but you will need to check to see if they fit your schedule for a day trip as they can be infrequent, typically only 3 a day

However, do not overlook the bus system, most buses take about the same time, and are more frequent. Buses in Andalusia are comfortable and efficient. It could be the train works one way, and the bus better the other way.

Trains leave from Malaga Maria Zambrano station, the bus station is across the street. The train station in Granada will require you to catch a city bus or a taxi to get to the old center, then a bus or taxi up to the Alhambra. The Bus station is further from the old center, so bus or taxi again.

This is all if done yourself, there are also likely organized tours from Malaga to Granada.
