connecting flight in amsterdam or Zurich?

I'm planning a trip to Croatia for 2024. We are hoping to start our trip in Rovinj and it looks like it takes 3 or 4 flights to get there using United. Trying to figure out the logistics. Would be better to have a one hour connecting flight in Amsterdam (to Zagreb) or a one-hour + 25 minute connection in Zürich (to Zagreb)? In either case, will I need to collect my checked bags and check them in again? Anyone have any idea how much time this might take at either airport or if I would need to change terminals? At 1st glance it looks like the connection through Zürich would be better but it does require an additional stop in Zadar (with no plane change).

If it is booked on one ticket, then your baggage should be checked through to your final destination.
One hour in Amsterdam is tight, but if the alternative is an extra stopover, then I'd probably risk it even though I prefer Zurich airport.
Please include month in your questions--a lot of things are seasonal.

Thanks very much, valadelphia. I've experienced the need to collect baggage and recheck it when returning to the US. Good to know that this does not apply to the EU. I'm assuming then that customs/passport control will only happen at our final destination, Pula. May ask why you prefer the Zürich airport? I've never had to connect through Zürich and have no idea about which terminal to which terminal might be involved.
Have not yet booked tickets but expect to be traveling the 1st week or so of September 2024.

Just based on past experiences (and Swiss stereotype), Zurich seemed efficiently run, AMS was a zoo.
