Great Video on London's Crossrail/Elizabeth Line Project

Nova, the science program affiliated with public broadcasting in the U.S., did a superb documentary on London's Crossrail, a rail construction project in the British capital. Work on the mulit-billion-dollar project began in 2009 with the first line opening in 2022. You can see the documentary here: https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/video/london-super-tunnel/

It was amazing that people were standing in line to try out what is now dubbed the Elizabeth Line -- named after Queen Elizabeth II -- when it opened in May 2022. Londoners are proud of the new service.

More broadly, the project is astounding for its complexity. I wrote about commercial construction, architecture and engineering in the Midwest for eight years as the editor of trade magazine in the 2000s. Few projects get as complex as Crossrail did.

Those interested in rail engineering might also like to keep an eye on HS2 - the building of a new rail line from London to Birmingham and hopefully Manchester. Trains will run at about 200mph. See > https://www.hs2.org.uk

We watched last night based on your advice and really enjoyed it. So impressive what they did. My son who is in the construction industry is visiting in a few weeks. I think we will rewatch it with him.
